Between 2012 and 2022 the number of bank and building society branches in Harrow halved – there are now under 30, with the vast majority in the town centre.

I believe it is incredibly important for banks to play their part in maintaining a vibrant local economy with essential services available to all. Lloyds and Barclays were the last remaining national bank branches in South Harrow and their closures in recent months will marginalise a significant number of people in this community.

Given the context in which both Lloyds and Barclays bank closures have taken place and how this is likely to impact customer service, the South Harrow High Street and local businesses at the same time, I have written to both banks to see whether they would support my application for a bank hub in South Harrow.
