“With a number of great pubs across the constituency, from Harrow on the Hill to Wealdstone, I’m asking constituents to help me nominate our representative in the Parliamentary Pub of the Year competition. Gareth Thomas MP
On Tuesday the 3rd of July The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pubs met to celebrate the launch of the Parliamentary Pub of the Year.
This award focuses on celebrating the pubs of our community and will give 650 constituency MPs the opportunity to nominate a pub to be recognised as the Parliamentary Pub of the Year.
The main criteria for nomination is essentially a pub that is great at what they do. This can include the range of beer or food provided, the dedication to serving the local Community, or a specialism in music or sports.
Before selecting the nomination for the Harrow West constituency, Gareth is asking pub goers to nominate their favourite local.
“With a number of great pubs across the constituency, from Harrow on the Hill to Wealdstone, I’m asking constituents to help me nominate our representative in the Parliamentary Pub of the Year competition.
It’s important to recognise the role pubs play in our local communities, so I’m happy to support this new competition to celebrate their contribution.”
Toby Perkins, the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Pub Group, said:
“Pubs are crucial to our communities as well as to our economy. Britain’s pubs employ over 1 million people and pay around £9 billion in taxes.
It is so important that we support our much loved locals, and I am delighted to hear that Gareth is doing that by nominating a pub, I wish the nominated pub well and hope they might make the final down in Parliament this autumn.”
