The Alexandra Avenue walk-in clinic is a key public facing service for the NHS in Harrow. Many people, particularly in South Harrow, rely on the walk-in clinic due to the lack of availability of GP appointments.
Currently, Alex Ave walk-in centre sees 40,000 people per year. But due to pressures on the NHS the CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) is having to make savings. This has led to the planned implementation of an appointment only system. These changes are due to come into force on the 1st of November.
These changes are indicative of Conservative underfunding of the NHS an appointment only system would restrict the communities access to the NHS, this isn’t acceptable. Even at this late stage in the process, I am going to continue to fight to ensure that people can freely access the NHS at the Alexandra Avenue Centre.
